Continues to host Project Run health and fitness program Saturdays at YouthVille Detroit

Detroit, MI – The Peace Project, whose mission is to create positive change through innovative programs, is back at it again with the 3rd Annual Run for Peace, a 5K run/walk event on Saturday, September 15, at Palmer Park in Detroit. Sign-in for participants opens at 7:30 a.m., with race time starting at 9 a.m.
All participants will receive a complimentary bandanna, t-shirt, water bottle and draw string bag. Registration and participation will be divided into three age groups:
- Children ages 12 and under – $9
- Youth ages 13 through 17 – $14
- Adults 18 and over – $20
“We’re excited to bring back the Run for Peace for its third year,” said Virgil “Al” Taylor, The Peace Project Founder. “This is a wonderful opportunity to participate in a fun, healthy activity that helps to raise awareness about non-violent efforts in the community while also demonstrating that Detroiter’s and our neighbors throughout the greater metropolitan communities are united in peaceful, positive activities and efforts.”
The Peace Project is also offering Project Run, a health and fitness program for children, families and other interested members of the community looking to participate in The Run for Peace event. Project Run is an exciting, fun, beneficial program that everyone can join. The free program is available every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at YouthVille Detroit on 7375 Woodward Avenue. Project Run offers a 5K run/walk component followed by half-hour aerobic, belly dancing and yoga workshops. Project Run will continue after The Run for Peace and will soon feature healthy cooking, recipe development and menu planning classes.
