Some say the years that have the greatest influence on a youth’s direction are in their pre-teen ages. And what better way to influence them than getting them involved in community service projects that allow them to make a direct impact on those they serve? Enter: Mentoring Youth Network (MYN), an organization that believes in the traditional approach when helping the young men and young women in their program. MYN believes that every child has the opportunity to be successful, and its mission is to prepare today’s youth for their future by building self esteem, encouraging higher education, and helping them with real life skills. To accomplish their mission, MYN is an annual participant in the Meals on Wheels program during the Thanksgiving holiday, and also hosts events such as Project: Warm Detroit and the I’mpossible Suicide Awareness Campaign.
